… on packing for a trip

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Yesterday was a beautiful day.

Exactly the type of day that Grampa would have loved to be a part of.

And he was.

Family gathered and cried and laughed and told story after story.

The sun came out in a beautiful old cemetery as Grampa arrived with his family, casting its light on lichened granite stones and newly-budded leaves on arching shade trees.

We said good-bye, for the time being, to our Old Yankee Man.

And I can confirm, for the record, that he left for his trip with three small dog bones in the inside right breast pocket of his jacket.

Just in case he meets a certain yellow lab when he arrives at his destination.

Because Grampa never greeted Fred empty-handed.
