just ponderin'

… on thanksgiving morning

Morning breaking, I’m partaking
in coffee offered by my love.
My smile spreading, I toss my bedding
and thank my lucky stars above.

In just a while, joining my smile,
a crowd comes walking through my door.
As hugs commence, I’ll get the sense
That I could never ask for more.

There’s lots of prepping and high stepping
to ready for this blessed day.
A whole house cleanse, and odds and ends,
a turkey roasting food ballet.

Reflecting after sounds of laughter,
shared stories and some great reliving,
I’ll look around, and realize I’ve found
the meaning in a great Thanksgiving.
