… on a spring-y delight
April 15, 2015
Way back last year
The first flake fell
And just like that
Poof! Winter’s spell.
First, such beauty
A world aglow
Sunlight, moonlight
cast soft on snow
Then…
Blizzard warnings
A raging storm
Frigid air
Became the norm
And on and on
The snow, it came
Mother Nature’s
Cold-hearted game
Ten inches, twelve?
We’d shrug, because
Eighteen or more
The norm, it was.
All time records,
They crashed and burned
And in our homes
We sighed and yearned
Oh snow and ice
‘We’re done!’, we’d say
When will we see
Spring’s warm display?
And just when I
Had reached wits’ end
Mother Nature
Did extend
Her olive branch,
The peepers’ song
And now?
It’s like it’s been here…
all along.
